What Languages Does Kylian Mbappe Speak?

Given that Mbappe has the choice of the very best clubs on the planet, with the likes of Manchester City in England, Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain, or even Juventus in Italy all looking to sign the player, could his move be influenced by how seamlessly he could transition into a new country and culture?

Could we see Kylian Mbappe in a Manchester City shirt next season? Does Mbappe even speak English? Or Spanish? Let’s delve into what languages Mbappe speaks.

French Is Mbappe’s Nativa Language

A Parisian by birth, Mbappe has spent his entire career so far in France, signing his first professional contract with Monaco in 2015, before a move back to his home city with Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

Mbappe speaks fluent French, obviously, as a native of France, but as we are about to find out, despite having a career solely in France, Mbappe has taken great measures to broaden his horizons.

While speaking to the French media, or in interviews, Mbappe primarily speaks French but has on multiple occasions been interviewed in other languages for international sports networks such as Sky Sports, Sky Italia, and even Moviestar, in which he spoke in fluent Spanish.

Mbappe Learnt Spanish In School

As well as incredible soccer skills, Kalyan Mbappe seems to have a real gift for languages, and while still at school attained excellent grades in Spanish lessons.

Mbappe has also ensured that even after his studies had concluded, he continued to learn the language and practice it as often as possible. Luckily for him, a multicultural team such as PSG has numerous Spanish-speaking players, including his close friend Neymar.

Unlike Neymar, who has rarely been seen speaking French, Mbappe has always made a conscious effort to speak to his colleagues and manager in other languages to try to improve his skills.

As well as conversing in Spanish with Neymar, his current manager Mauricio Pochettino is also a native Spanish speaker, and Pochettino has readily admitted that due to Mbappe’s voracious appetite to learn about other languages as well as to just talk about soccer, they speak to each other in Spanish.

Should the young Frenchman decide to move to Spain at the end of his current contract, there is no doubt that he would be able to interact seamlessly with his new teammates, as well as converse well with the Spanish media.

As well as taking Spanish lessons at school, Mbappe also took English lessons which he apparently excelled in too, which certainly helps him when dealing with teammates and press alike.

How Fluent In English Is Kylian Mbabbe?

Kylian Mbappe has one goal in life, to become the best soccer player on the planet, as well as a global superstar, and the young Frenchman is astute enough to understand that to reach that goal, he has to be multi-lingual.

Even while at Monaco the player understood that being able to converse in other languages would open many more doors for him both as a player, and as a product.

It was with this in mind that Mbappe spent a considerable amount of time learning English.

Mbappe speaks excellent English now, and whenever he has the chance ensures he practices as often as possible. His current PSG manager, Mauricio Pocthettino stated that whenever the two speak, Mbappe prefers to talk in English to further practice.

While this admirable effort by Mbappe certainly opens more doors for him when it comes to his next career move.

With numerous English teams such as Manchester City and Manchester United coveting the star player, he has indicated in an interview with fellow striker Thierry Henry that his efforts to learn multiple languages have a lot to do with becoming a public figure.

Does Mbappe Speak Other Languages?

Kylian Mbappe has always excelled at learning languages, as well as speaking fluent French, Spanish, and English, he has also been learning Portuguese and Italian.

At the Globe Soccer Awards, Mbappe arrived on stage and introduced himself in Italian, which just shows how confident he is in not only assimilating other languages but actually putting them into practice too.

Mbappe is less fluent in Portuguese but is reported to be learning the language alongside his friend and teammate, Neymar.

Incredibly, Mbappe also wants to become proficient in Arabic, and not only because it is one of the most widely spoken languages on the planet.

Given the increase in soccer’s popularity in the Middle East, and the fact that teams now play key finals and tournaments in Arabic speaking countries, as well as the fact that Mbappe wishes to become a global icon rather than just a French icon,

Should Kylian Mbappe maintain his thirst for learning languages, and there’s no reason why he shouldn’t, that would take him to an impressive six languages that he speaks, which won’t harm his chances of becoming the global superstar that he hopes to be one bit.

The Rising Star of Kylian Mbappe

European soccer has always been blessed with some of the greatest players to play the game, each generation has its superstars, and each generation always feels that its elite players will never be eclipsed for talent or success.

No one would be able to better Pele until a certain Johan Cruyff appeared in Holland, suddenly a new peak had been reached, until the one and only Diego Maradona proved to the world that he was the greatest of all time. And so the cycle continues.

More recently it is Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi who have set the bar so high, with stats and skills that seem to be taken from a Playstation game, such is their dominance of the sport.

But with their careers now having peaked, and the world looking for a new superstar to idolize, all eyes have turned to Paris Saint-Germain and their French wonder kid, Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe has the potential to become the best player on the planet, with skill, pace, and the commitment and desire to reach the very top of his profession. With his contract expiring in a couple of months, the next move he makes could very well decide if he fulfills that potential.

The right move to a strong club that can challenge seriously for trophies, and Mbappes’ meteoric rise to the top is assured, get it wrong, and he could flounder for multiple seasons.
