Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Wife: Who Is Helena Seger?

The stunning wife of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Helena Seger was born in the historical municipality of  Lindesburg, Sweden on the 25th Of August, 1970.

After courting and flirting with both Zlatan and Helena, the pair became official in 2002 and have been together ever since.

Although they are now officially married, it is not known exactly how long they have been married for, as the pair tend to keep their ‘love life’ far away from the headlight of the media.

It’s fair to say Helena’s claim to fame came from dating Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but as you’ll find out she’s a little different from the other stereotypical wives of footballers…

Early Life

With her Mother and Father (Margareta Seger and Ingemar Seger), Helena grew up as the eldest of three siblings. She has a younger sister called Karin and a younger brother named Henrik.

After she completed her schooling, Helena went on to pursue a graduate program in economics and then subsequently embarked on an impressive career.

At only 13 years old, Helena landed her first job with the popular Swedish clothing company ‘Gul&Bla’.  This would be the start of her career journey and would lead Helena on to bigger and better endeavors.

Career

After going on to work for other renowned clothing brands such as ‘Diesel’ and ‘Replay’, Helena started work as a sales representative for ‘Bonner’ (promoting the products of the company) and was in that position for three years.

Due to Seger’s ‘good looks’ and golden locks, she would then begin her career in modeling where she had several modeling assignments and worked for a handful of famous fashion designers.

In between these jobs, Helena would take time out to attend fabric embroidery and pattern design classes.

In her most formative years, Helena would become heavily involved in the tobacco industry working for companies such as Swedish Match and Austria Tabak.

During her time in the tobacco industry, she enrolled in several courses concerning marketing,  communication, and brand management.

This helped her serve on the board as a marketing manager and director for the airline ‘FlyMe’.

When she met Zlatan in 2002, Helena would quit her job at ‘FlyMe’ and move to Italy with  Ibrahimovic (as at the time he signed for Italian footballing giants, Juventus).

Why Helena Doesn’t Fit the Stereotype

Even though Seger is the wife of one of the most recognizable faces not only in football but in the wider sporting world, she would say that she doesn’t exactly fit the usual labels of that of a footballer’s wife.

For a start, Helena is one of the most successful businesswomen in the whole of Sweden and is reported to have a net worth of around $160 Million.

In many ways, Helena is a master of multi-tasking and has quite the career experience when you delve deeper into her previous lines of work.

From modeling at a young age to working up in higher positions within the fashion industry, to becoming a director of an airline company, to now working within the real estate business.

Helena has a professional ambition that is unlike most other women that are in relationships with famous footballers.

Although one of the most surprising things for a woman in her position is that she isn’t active on the major social media platforms.

She likes to lead a somewhat private life and isn’t the kind to flaunt her influence and wealth for all to see on social media.

How Did Helena and Zlatan Meet Each Other?

Fairly recently, Seger revealed she and Zlatan met by chance, in somewhat unusual circumstances…

In a car park in Malmo, Sweden the two would first set eyes on each other over a disagreement about a parking space.

Helena said, “He (Zlatan Ibrahimovic) had parked his Ferrari badly. He had done so in a way that prevented my Mercedes from coming out”.

Helena then said, “Quite gruffly, I told him to move it out of the way; and yes, he saw something that he liked”. Seger later confessed in the interview that, “It isn’t easy to live with him, but I admit it isn’t with myself either”.

It’s clear to see that by this altercation Helena caught the eyes of flamboyant footballer Zlatan  Ibrahimovic and from there, he decided to pursue her romantically.

It seems in terms of ferocity and character; Helena doesn’t back down from anyone and it seems as though Zlatan has finally found his match away from the pitch.

The Compatibility of Helena and Zlatan

As mentioned, Helena has shown in both her personal and professional life that she isn’t afraid of a  challenge and possesses the strength of mind when it comes to adversity.

In order to put up with a character like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and handle his personality, it takes someone as strong-willed as Helena to make things work in the relationship.

Apart from having similar personality traits, the couple also shares similar hobbies and interests.  As we are aware, Zlatan is a fitness fanatic and so is Helena Seger.

For a 51-year-old woman who has had children, it has to be said that Helena Seger is in tip-top condition for her age.

During a holiday in the Mediterranean, the pair were pictured on a yacht keeping up to date with their fitness routine as Helena worked out on the equipment, whilst Zlatan was pictured going through a push-up routine.

From the outside at least, the pair seem to be stronger than ever and after 20 years it’s clear to see why.

Both are almost carbon copies of each other in their shared interests and hobbies whilst having similar mindset’s when it comes to their career ambitions.

Family Life

After the couple relocated to Italy in 2005, their relationship started to flourish and Helena would relocate to wherever Zlatan was playing at the time.

A year after on September the 22nd 2006, the couple welcomed their first child; a baby boy named  Maximilliano.

Both were ecstatic and overjoyed at the arrival of the baby and the relationship would go even further as two years later (in 2008), the couple would welcome their second child (and second son),  Vincent Ibrahimovic.

A year after that the family would move to Spain (as Ibrahimovic signed for Spanish giants,  Barcelona) and then back to Italy a year later in 2010 (where Zlatan made a return to his beloved AC  Milan).

After moving back and forth to countries and having many discussions, Zlatan and Helena decided that the family should stay in Stockholm, Sweden whilst Zlatan plays football in Italy.

The pair want both of their children to have a consistent schooling routine with Zlatan recently coming out to say, “They are thirteen and fifteen now, time goes fast. It’s not easy but my partner takes good care of the children. We make it work.”

One of the main things the family enjoys is gathering around the kitchen and feasting on Helena’s home-cooked meals.

Cooking for her family is something Helena takes great pride in and thanks to her time (during her younger years) under the watchful eye of Swedish restaurateur Carl-Jan Granqvist, she is said to be a  very good chef in the kitchen!

What Does The Future Hold For Helena Seger and Zlatan Ibrahimovic?

A few years ago, Zlatan was accused of cheating on Helena by numerous Italian newspapers.

The rumors started after popular Italian TV presenter, Diletta Leotta filmed an advert with Zlatan for a fitness training app during the lockdown.

Zlatan and Diletta were also (reportedly) spotted at a Sardinian restaurant sometime after they filmed the commercial.

Both parties have come out to deny the allegations since.

Amidst the difficulties and gossip that comes with a famous figure like Zlatan, he, Helena, and their family seem to be stronger than ever.

They are even business partners in real estate and hold several properties across Europe and  America to their name.

Whilst Zlatan is smashing goals in Serie A, Helena takes care of the children back in Stockholm and it seems to be working for the couple.

Looking in, they seem to be very content and compatible with each other, with both understanding their roles within the relationship.

If things continue the way they’ve been going, the future only looks bright for Zlatan, Helena and their two teenage sons Vincent and Maximilliano.
